چکیده
Abstract Introduction Mycotic extracranial carotid artery aneurysms are rare and their management variable due to a lack of evidence assessing outcomes. We undertook systematic literature review assess this. Methods Following PRIMSA guidelines, MEDLINE EMBASE databases were searched for all cases between January 1970 March 2021. The search terms used infect, abscess, mycotic, carotid, aneurysm, pseudoaneurysm. Aneurysm, infected disease” subject headings used. Titles abstracts screened before full text papers reviewed. Endovascular stenting for extracranial carotid artery aneurysms
The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and effectiveness of endovascular stenting for extracranial carotid artery aneurysms (ECAAs) and evaluate the mid-term outcomes.Twelve consecutive symptomatic patients (mean age 43.8 ± 14.9 years; 8 men) with ECAAs who were treated with endovascular stenting between 1997 and 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical follow-up data including...

INTRODUCTION Extracranial carotid artery aneurysms (ECAA) are rare but may be accompanied with significant morbidity. Previous studies mostly focused on diagnostic imaging and treatment. In contrast, the pathophysiological mechanisms and natural course of ECAA are largely unknown. Understanding the pathophysiological background may add to prediction of risk for adverse outcome and need for surg...
متن کاملBilateral Extracranial Carotid Artery Aneurysms Treated by Staged Surgical Repair
Introduction Bilateral extracranial carotid artery aneurysms (ECAAs) are very rare. The case of a patient with bilateral ECAA who underwent staged surgical repair is reported. Report A 35 year old man was referred with a slow growing pulsatile neck mass causing mild discomfort. Computed tomography and duplex ultrasound showed a right ECAA, with a 3.0 cm diameter 5 cm long true aneurysm, and a...

BACKGROUND Carotid endarterectomy is the most common surgical procedure used to treat stenosis of the extracranial precerebral carotid artery. Data from several randomized controlled trials are available to help guide its use in specific patient subgroups. Carotid angioplasty with stenting is also being performed, and clinical trials comparing this procedure with carotid endarterectomy are in p...

INTRODUCTION Extracranial aneurysm of the internal carotid artery is an exceptional finding. CASE REPORT An 89-year-old woman consulted for a peritonsillar mass. Physical examination revealed a parapharyngeal pulsatile mass in the oropharynx. Computed tomography (CT) provided the diagnosis of extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysm. Endovascular or surgical treatment were declined. Anti...
